Han Solo’s Blaster Movie Prop Goes For $200,000

One lucky Star Wars fans with an extra $200,000 to blow won their very own Han Solo blasterthis past weekend during an online auction for the blaster. The battered film prop, like many other Star Wars ones, is based on a World War II original, with this particular blaster inspired by a German Mauser C96 semi-automatic pistol without the shoulder stock. By default, the buyer is anonymous so there’s no telling who the lucky Star Wars fanatic is, however, the movie prop that sold this past Saturday wasn’t even used by Harrison Ford himself during A New Hope and no one knows where that one is really. This blaster is actually the version that replaced it, used in the  Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. It’s the weapon from the scene where Han Solo shoots Darth Vader in Cloud City, only to have Vader deflect it and take the blaster from a distance. The listing for the prop on the auction site, Profiles in History, also mentions that it could have been used by Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker when he enters Cloud City for a brief moment. The seller expected to bring in as much as $300,000 for the prop, so it sold on the low end of its estimate.
